London Book Fair 2017 – a Grand Spectacle of The Literary World

It’s that time of the year again when the publishing and literary world is abuzz and excited. London Book Fair 2017 is taking place on 14-16 March at Olympia London. The event website declares that “The London Book Fair is the global marketplace for rights negotiation and the sale and distribution of content across print, audio, TV, film and digital channels.” Every year in this major event of the content and publishing industry we see numerous exchanges of rights, new deals on sales and distribution and visit by several renowned writers and industry leaders. London Book Fair is a great place to make connections, may it be a business acquaintance or to share personal wisdoms and have a clear sense of the publishing trends. The whole place is abuzz with bright people and there’s a lot to do for a visitor during these three days. Over a 1000 exhibitors will participate in the event which will see around 25,000 visitors from over 124 countries. The fair will see around 200 events comprising seminars, conferences, award distributions, networking events and more.

Conferences this year at LBF will deal with subjects ranging from consumer insights, book rights and global trends to publishing technology and children’s books. The Author Club, a new initiative will attract over 1000s of authors giving the author community a platform to explore and connect. The Author of the Day will see an author each day in the spotlight; bestselling author and former Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo, Man Booker prize-winning novelist Roddy Doyle and eminent Polish author Olga Tokarczuk, are the chosen ones this year. Poland is the Market Focus country for 2017, highlighting the country’s dynamic publishing industry and to increase awareness of its long literary traditions.
